Maiese, Minice and Bowen Win Final Softball Weekly Awards

MAAC Player of the Week
ALYSSA MAIESE, IONA
Senior, DP/P, 5-8, Sewell, N.J./Indiana Univ.
Maiese went a combined 13-22 (.591) with a slugging percentage of 1.045 as the Gaels went 4-2 in their final contests before the MAAC Championship. In a game one win over Saint Peter's, she went 3-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. In game two, Maiese 3-3 once again, with a home run, double, two RBI and two runs scored. In game one against Siena, Maiese went 3-4 with a triple and an RBI and followed it up with a 3-5 effort in game two.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
SARAH MINICE, FAIRFIELD
Senior, P, 5-10, Bellevue, Wash./Sammamish
Minice figured in all four decisions over the weekend which helped the Stags clinch the conference regular-season title. She started the week by winning both ends of the Niagara doubleheader, including a 17-strikeout performance in the opener. For the week, Minice struck out 27 hitters in 17 innings and allowed just six hits, five walks, and sported a 0.41 ERA.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
KATE BOWEN, MANHATTAN
Freshman, 2B/P, 5-6, Newtown, Conn./Newtown
Bowen hit .636 with three runs and seven RBIs over the weekend, as the Lady Jaspers went 4-0 against Saint Peter's and Iona to secure the No. 2 seed in the MAAC Championship. She currently leads the Lady Jaspers with a .339 batting average and 25 RBIs.
