Edison, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced a reorganization of its media relations and marketing staff into a New Media department.
The MAAC Council of Presidents approved the promotion of Ed Clinton to Associate Commissioner for External Relations. In his new role Clinton will oversee the marketing, promotion and development of the MAAC brand through the league’s broadcasting platforms and the various forms of new and social media. Clinton joined the league office in October 2007 as Director of Media Relations/Webmaster.
Jill Skotarczak will now serve as the Assistant Commissioner for External Relations. Skotarczak was appointed Director of Media Relations in October 2000 and was promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations in July 2007. Whitney Swab, formerly the Director of Marketing since November 2008, will serve as Director of New Media/Broadcasting, while Hamilton Cook will become Director of New Media/Marketing & Ticketing after being hired in August 2010 as the Assistant Director for Marketing & Ticket Sales.
Dan Pellicano, an intern with the MAAC during the 2010-11 academic year, will join the department as the Administrative Fellow for New Media.
“The MAAC has reorganized its internal staff to achieve better service to the member schools as we manage the evolution of media relations to what is now termed ‘New Media,’” notes MAAC Commissioner Richard J. Ensor. “New Media reflects how news is consumed by the MAAC fan in today’s technology focused society which receives continuous information feeds on laptops, tablets or mobile devices and expects sports organizations to deliver many options for news whether in video, tweets or traditional print and broadcast formats. In reorganizing the staff the goal becomes to provide this content to the MAAC membership in a more effective way.”
Additionally, Meghan Bertovich has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Women’s Basketball & NCAA Championship Operations. Bertovich joined the MAAC in October 2008 as Director of Championships & Special Events. In July 2009, she became the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations. In her new position, Bertovich will continue to oversee all facets of MAAC Women’s Basketball, as well as direct all NCAA Championships hosted by the MAAC.
“Meghan did a tremendous job for the MAAC, Rider University and the NCAA when she served as Manager of the 2011 NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, while still coordinating the league’s women’s basketball operations,” notes Ensor. “Her implementation and coordination of both the operational aspects of the championships and the development of a Local Organizing Committee was first rate and her promotion reflects her abilities as an administrator and the confidence the league and I have in Meghan.”
The Council of Presidents also approved the contract extension of
Commissioner Ensor through June 30, 2014. Ensor was named the third commissioner of the MAAC in August of 1988.
