O'Rourke Dives in USA Diving National Preliminaries

BLOOMINGTON, IN. - Senior Niagara diver Ian O'Rourke recently competed in the 2011 USA Diving National Preliminary Zone C Championships, finishing in the top-20 in both the one meter diving event and the three meter diving event.
The four-time MAAC Champion finished in eighth place out of 18 divers in the preliminary round of the one meter diving event, with a score of 278.65. The Grand Island, N.Y. native upped his score to 292.10 in the final round, but finished in eighth place out of 12 divers.
O'Rourke didn't make it out of the qualifying round for the three meter diving event, missing the cut by approximately 10 points. The defending MAAC and ECAC Most Outstanding Diver finished in 16th place out of 25 divers in the preliminary round of the three meter diving event with a score of 264.50.
Qualifying divers move on from each of the four USA Diving National Preliminary Zone Championships to compete at the 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships, taking place Aug. 9-14 at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center.
