Edison, NJ - Iona's Leonard Korir and Hollie Rowland were selected as the MAAC Men's and Women's Runners of the week, respectively.

The No. 4 Iona College men's cross country team earned one of its more dominant wins in meet history at the 2011 John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park. Senior Leonard Korir earned first place individual honors, leading the Gaels who placed the top four runners and six of the Top 10 in the event. Korir dominated the race field, topping his teammates by nearly 30 seconds despite a wrong turn that cost him a potential shot at the meet record. He ran the eighth fastest time in meet history, recording a 24:27.95 in the 8k event. There were 222 competitors and 19 teams.

Iona College women's cross country team gutted out a two-point advantage over Penn and five points over Brown to earn a Meet of Champions team title at Van Cortlandt Park. Junior Hollie Rowland made her Maroon & Gold debut and won the race handily, topping her second place finisher by 39 seconds to earn the individual crown. Led by Rowland's 21:28.55, the Gaels had four of the top 15 finishers in the 6k race. There were 202 competitors and 19 teams.

The 2011 MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held on October 28th at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale, New York.
