Offensive Player of the Week

LaKell Havens, Manhattan, Sr., Middle Blocker, 6-1, St. George, Utah/Dixie/Salt Lake CC

Havens hit a combined .415 in victories over Providence, Loyola and Rider last week.  Against Providence on Wednesday, she slammed 16 kills and committed just two errors, hitting .483 in the victory.  She added four service aces against the Friars.  She then notched 14 kills and nine blocks in the Jaspers’ come-from-behind five-set win over Loyola on Saturday.  Havens capped her week by hitting .481, pounding 16 kills to just three errors, in the win over Rider on Sunday.  Havens averaged 3.54 kills, 4.69 points, 0.46 aces and 1.23 blocks per set in the three matches.

 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Sam Morgan, Niagara, Sr., Libero, 5-9, Cincinnati, Ohio/ Colerain

Reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Sam Morgan displayed another solid week in the back row for the Purple Eagles. Morgan had match-highs of 32 and 26 digs against Canisius and Syracuse, respectively, as she extended her NCAA-best double-digit digs streak to 112 matches. Morgan averaged 6.44 digs per set and had a perfect reception percentage (49-for-49) in wins over Canisius and Syracuse as Niagara improved to 9-7 on the season and extended its home winning streak to 11 matches.

 

 

Rookie of the Week

Hollegn Henderson, Manhattan, Fr., Setter, 5-8, Long Beach, Calif./Wilson

Henderson notched back-to-back double-doubles in Manhattan’s wins over Providence and Loyola.  She had 40 assists and 10 digs against Providence on Wednesday night, then dished out a career-high 51 assists to go along with 13 digs in the five-set triumph against Loyola on Saturday.  Henderson capped her week with a 48-assist, nine-dig, three-block performance in the four-set win over Rider on Sunday.  For the week, Henderson averaged 10.69 assists and 2.46 digs per set.  She also hit .370 in the three matches, recording 12 kills (four in each match) while committing just two errors.
