Mulieri and Strijek Named Golfers of the Month

Edison, N.J. - Loyola's Jay Mulieri was chosen as the MAAC men's golfer of the month for September, while Siena's Kylie Strijek was named the MAAC Women's Golfer of the Month.
Mulieri, a senior from Silver Spring, Md., leads the team with a 71.22 stroke average and has notched two top-10 individual finishes this fall. Most recently, he tied for second at the Hartford Hawks Invitational after completing a four-way playoff round for top honors. Mulieri shot rounds of 72, 68 and 73 to lead Loyola to a runner-up finish behind UConn. He finished with an individual score of 3-under 213. At the season opening Maryland Intercollegiate, Mulieri opened with a season-best 67, before carding a 74 and 69 to finish four strokes off the lead at 3-under 210. He leads the team this fall with a 71.22 stroke average and has been at par or under through four of the nine rounds he has played, including two rounds in which he finished at 4-under par.
Strijek, a sophomore from Linwood, N.J., started the 2011 fall season by finishing ninth at the Dartmouth Invitational. She closed with a second-round 75 that tied for the low round of the day and pushed the Saints to a second-place finish. Strijek also finished in a team-best tie for 17th at the Princeton Invitational, shooting rounds of 73, 77, and 81 in a tournament where only one participant finished better than three over par.
The 2012 MAAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships will be held April 27_29 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
