Offensive Player of the Week
Kelly Reinwald, Canisius, Sr., F, 5-6, Stafford, Va./North Stafford
Reinwald recorded a four-point weekend as the Griffs went 1-0-1 at the Demske Sports Complex. Against Quinnipiac on Friday, Reinwald connected with freshman forward Mallory Illsley off a corner kick inside the box in the 14th minute, and then laced a shot into the back of the net from 10 yards out in the 70th minute for her 29th career goal. In the Griffs' 1-0 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday, Reinwald set up the Griffs' first goal of the game off a corner kick. It marked the second game in a row that she assisted on a goal off a corner kick, bringing her career point total to 85.
Defensive Player of the Week
Laura Ettinger, Siena, Sr., GK, 5-8, Macungie, Pa./Emmaus
Ettinger posted her second consecutive shutout to start the season, posting a clean sheet in the Saints' 1-0 win over Quinnipiac Sunday. She made five saves and has stopped all 14 shots she has faced this season. However, no save was bigger than her stop in the 87th minute where she completely laid out to her right to preserve the shutout and the win.
Co-Rookies of the Week
Maria Nelms, Canisius, Fr., MF, 5-4, London, Ontario/Mother Teresa
In the 85th minute, Nelms scored her first collegiate goal to give Canisius a 1-0 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex. Reinwald sent a high ball from the left corner into the scrum in front of the net with Nelms heading the ball in for the Griffs' lead and eventual game winner.
Amanda Epstein, Marist, Fr., F, 5-5, Jericho, N.Y./Jericho
On Friday, Epstein made her first collegiate start versus Yale in the Yale Soccer Classic. On Sunday, she netted the game-winning goal in Marist's 2-1 victory over Central Connecticut State. On her second shot on goal of the game, Epstein took a two-part cross in from teammates Nicole Kuhar and Kathryn Hannis and put the ball in past CCSU's goalkeeper in the 62nd minute.
