MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on Thursday on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - Canisius College's Koessler Athletic Center will be the site for the first MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader to be broadcasted this season on Thursday, January 19. Both National MAAC Games of the Week will air live on ESPN3.
The first game of the twin bill in the Battle of the Bridge will feature a match-up between the women's programs from Niagara University and Canisius at 6:00 p.m. Niagara, 5-13 overall and 2-4 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Kayla Stroman, who is registering 9.7 points and 3.2 assists per game, and sophomore center Lauren Gatto, who is averaging 8.6 points and 5.7 caroms a night for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 8-9 overall and 2-4 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore forward Jamie Ruttle, who is contributing 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, and junior guard Ashley Durham, who is posting 9.9 points and 3.6 rebounds an outing for the Golden Griffins.
Game two has the men's teams for Niagara and Canisius for an 8:30 p.m. tip-off. Niagara, 8-11 overall and 3-4 in the MAAC, is led by freshman guard Juan'ya Green, who is averaging 18.6 points and 4.1 assists per game, as well as redshirt freshman guard Antoine Mason, who is contributing 14.5 points and 4.6 rebounds an outing for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 4-13 overall and 1-6 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard Harold Washington, who is averaging 17.6 points and 3.8 rebounds an outing, and junior guard Alshwan Hymes, who is netting 14.6 points and grabbing 2.4 rebounds a night for the Griffs.
