POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In wake of Saturday's tragic fire that claimed three lives, two of whom were Marist students, Marist College has postponed the men's basketball game against Fairfield on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. and the women's basketball game against Saint Peter's on Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
"Out of respect for the students affected by this tragedy, the College is postponing the men's basketball game on Sunday and the women's basketball game on Monday night," said Deborah DiCaprio, Marist's Vice President and Dean for Student Affairs. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this terrible tragedy."
"The MAAC member schools share in the grief of the Marist College community and offers its condolences to the families of the students who died or were injured in this tragic fire," said Rich Ensor, Commissioner of the MAAC. "The MAAC athletic administrators have been notified of the cancellation of games scheduled for Sunday and Monday at Marist College and fully support the decision. The games will be rescheduled in the near future in consultation with all of the involved schools."
Fans holding tickets to these games can present them on the rescheduled date or receive a refund by visiting the Marist Ticket Office located in the McCann Center.
