MAAC Opens with Canisius at Saint Peter's on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference begins its 2012 MAAC Basketball Broadcast Schedule with Saint Peter's College hosting Canisius College on Thursday, January 5. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m., and the National MAAC Game of the Week will air live on ESPN3.

Canisius, 3-10 overall and 0-3 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard Harold Washington, who is contributing 18.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, and junior guard Alshwan Hymes, who is posting 14.7 points and 2.2 rebounds an outing for the Golden Griffins.
Saint Peter's, 2-12 overall and 1-2 in the MAAC, is led by junior forward Darius Conley, who is registering 13.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, and junior guard Chris Prescott, who is averaging 11.6 points and 2.1 rebounds an outing for the Peacocks.
This contest marks the 66th all-time meeting between the two programs, with the Griffs holding a 36-29 advantage in the series. Last year, Saint Peter's won the first contest, 63-55, at the Yanitelli Center on Jan. 3, while Canisius won its home game on Feb. 6 with a 59-45 decision.
