Conference Play Begins in Men's Soccer

Edison, N.J. - The road to the 2012 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship begins this weekend with nine conference matches.
Siena hosts Saint Peter's in afternoon game on Friday in Loudonville, a rematch of last year's first round championship content won by Siena, 5-1. Three 7 p.m. games follow with Rider at Canisius (MAAC.TV), Manhattan at Marist (MAAC.TV), and Loyola at Niagara.
Saturday's lone contest features a showdown between two of the league's top programs - defending champions Fairfield at Iona (MAAC.TV).
Four more games are scheduled for Sunday with Manhattan at Siena, Rider at Niagara, and Loyola at Canisius (MAAC.TV) all at 1 p.m. The final game of the weekend has Marist hosting Saint Peter's at 2 p.m. (MAAC.TV).
A 2-0 weekend from Niagara or Canisius could see them sneak in the NSCAA Top-25. The Purple Eagles received nine votes in this week's poll, while the Griffs dropped out in an idle week after receiving votes the the week before.
The 2012 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will be held at Marist College's Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7 and 9 p.m. The Championship Final will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 live on ESPN3. Tickets are available now at TicketLeap.com.
