Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The second annual 7v7 Edward Coombs Memorial Flag Football Tournament took
place at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field on the campus of Marist College from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Current Marist lacrosse student athletes
Michael Linehan and Craig Goodermote ran the tournament with the assistance
from their teammates. The event is in memory of Marist Lacrosse teammate Eddie
Coombs who was tragically killed in an automobile accident two summers ago and
all proceeds will benefit the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation. Several teams
participated in the event and came out to support.
The Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation was set up by Eddie's family to honor
those student-athletes who exemplify the same strong character as Eddie. Eddie
was a well-respected member of the Marist Community by staff and students. He
had the ability to make everyone feel as though he was their best friend with
his smile.
