POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist baseball program raised $3,082 this past month for Movember, the initiative designed to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

Several members of the Marist baseball team, in addition to Head Coach Chris Tracz, grew mustaches throughout November to support the cause.

The Marist baseball team was one of over 15,000 teams nationwide to register with Movember as a fundraiser online. The Red Foxes' total ranked them in the top eight percent nationwide at 1,140th overall. Fifth-year senior Eric Helmrich (Yonkers, N.Y.) served as the Marist Movember captain, and freshman Anthony Hamlin (Tampa, Fla.) led the squad in money raised.

"This was a great, fun way to raise money and bring awareness to men's health," Tracz said. "The mustaches certainly started a dialogue and spread knowledge about the cause. Our student-athletes showed great enthusiasm and leadership in taking on this initiative."
