Loyola Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader Friday

Edison, N.J. - The Reitz Arena on the campus of Loyola University Maryland is the site for the next MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader to air this season on the ESPN platforms on Friday, February 10.
The women's game between Iona College and Loyola will take place at 4:00 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.
Iona, 10-12 overall and 6-5 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Kristina Ford, who is registering 15.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, and freshman guard Damika Martinez, who is averaging 15.4 points and 5.1 caroms a night for the Gaels. Loyola, 10-13 overall and 6-6 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard Katie Sheahin, who is contributing 14.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, and senior Miriam McKenzie, who is posting 14.3 points and 8.1 rebounds an outing for the Greyhounds.
The men's contest - a first-place showdown between Iona and Loyola - will start at 7:00 p.m., and will air live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network. It can also be viewed via WatchESPN.
Iona, 19-5 overall and 11-2 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Mike Glover, who is averaging a league-best 18.5 points along with 9.0 rebounds per game, as well as junior guard Lamont Jones, who is contributing 16.2 points and 3.5 rebounds an outing for the Gaels. Loyola, 18-5 overall and 11-2 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Dylon Cormier, who is averaging 14.1 points and 3.5 rebounds an outing, and junior forward Erik Etherly, who is netting 13.1 points and grabbing 7.6 rebounds a night for the Greyhounds.
In the first meeting during the regular season on January 15, Jones scored 25 points and Glover had 20 points and 15 rebounds as Iona defeated Loyola, 74-63. The Gaels trailed 36-31 at halftime, but shot 63 percent (17-of-27) in the second half. Glover had 16 of his points after halftime. He scored two baskets during an 11-2 run that gave the Gaels a 50-46 lead with 12:13 remaining. After Loyola tied the game, Glover scored eight points in a 17-5 run that made it 67-55 with 4:52 left. Scott Machado had 12 points for Iona and had seven of his nine assists in the second half. Taaj Ridley added 10 points and 10 assists. Robert Olson made 5-of-8 shots from 3-point range and scored 21 points for the Greyhounds.
