Loyola to Host Fairfield on Sunday on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference continues its 2011-12 MAAC Basketball Broadcast Schedule with Loyola University Maryland hosting Fairfield University on Sunday, February 12. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m., and the National MAAC Game of the Week will air live on ESPN3.

Fairfield, 14-10 overall and 9-4 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Rakim Sanders and junior guard Derek Needham. Sanders is averaging 16.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, and Needham is posting 12.2 points and 3.6 assists an outing for the Stags.

Loyola is currently 19-5 overall and 12-2 in the MAAC. The Greyhounds are led sophomore guard Dylon Cormier, who is averaging 14.5 points and 3.6 rebounds an outing, and junior forward Erik Etherly, who is netting 13.5 points and grabbing 7.7 rebounds a night.

On January 13 in the first regular season meeting, Robert Olson made three baskets in 23 seconds late in the game and scored 15 points as Loyola rallied to defeat Fairfield, 66-63. Etherly had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Greyhounds, who trailed 45-30 with 16:42 remaining. The Stags still led 62-55 after Maurice Barrow's layup with 2:07 remaining. A jumper by Olson, who scored 13 second-half points, cut the lead to five with 1:42 left. A steal by Cormier led to an Olson jumper 15 seconds later, and another steal by Cormier set up Olson's tying 3-pointer at the 1:19 mark. Cormier gave Loyola a 64-63 lead with two free throws after Desmond Wade made one for Fairfield. Shane Walker and Anthony Winbush added free throws for Loyola, while the Stags missed their final four shots. Sanders led Fairfield with 17 points.
