Player of the Week

Ryan McCauley, Niagara University

Jr., 1B, 6-5, 225, Urbandale, Iowa/Northern Iowa

The junior was a standout over the weekend as he went 5-for-7 (.714) at the plate with two home runs, a pair of doubles, three RBI, and six runs scored. In Niagara's opening day win over Davidson, the second baseman went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, a double, and a walk while driving in three runs and scoring four. On Saturday against Bucknell he went 2-for-3 with another double, added another walk, and scored two more runs. On the weekend McCauley had on base percentage of .778 and a 1.857 slugging percentage. 

Pitcher of the Week

Justin Brantley, Siena College

Jr., RHP, 6-0, 175, Hudson, N.Y./Hudson

Brantley tossed seven solid innings in Siena's season-opening game at Conference USA foe Tulane, which received votes in the latest national poll. He scattered nine hits and allowed just three earned runs while striking out seven. Brantley left the game with the score tied 4-4, allowing the Saints to nearly pull the upset. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Brantley settled down and worked five straight scoreless innings.

Rookie of the Week

Mark Brennan, Marist College

Fr., C, 6-3, 195, Wallingford, Conn./Sheehan

Brennan homered on the first collegiate pitch he saw against Campbell on Feb. 18, a two-run shot in the second inning that gave the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead. He then added a two-run double in the eighth inning of that game, which broke a 3-3 tie. He also drew a walk in that contest. In two games last week, Brennan went 2-for-4 with two extra base hits and four RBI.
