Player of the Week
Lamont "Momo" Jones , Iona, Jr., G, 6-0/196, Harlem, N.Y./Univ. of Arizona/Oak Hill Academy (Va.)

Jones averaged 30.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two Iona wins this week over Canisius and Manhattan. He shot 59.5% (22-for-37) from the field, 50.0% (8-for-16) from beyond the arc and 75.0% (9-for-12) from the free throw line. Jones poured in a Hynes Center record 43 points vs. Canisius, matching the second highest single-game scoring total in school history. It was also the highest single-game scoring total in the MAAC this season. Jones had a career-best 16 field goals and seven three pointers in the contest. Against Manhattan on Sunday, Jones had 18 points and six rebounds in the victory.


Rookie of the Week
Chavaughn Lewis, Marist, Fr., G/F, 6-5, 185, Queens, N.Y./St. Mary's Manhasset

Looking to infuse more scoring into the Marist lineup, Head Coach Chuck Martin gave Lewis the first two starts of his career this week at Manhattan on Thursday and at home versus Canisius on Saturday. The freshman guard repaid Martin's faith in him with two excellent efforts, a team-high 11 points versus Manhattan and 15 in the Marist's 80-69 win over Canisius. Besides scoring, Lewis filled both of the box scores with a variety of stats. He finished with four rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks at Manhattan, and three rebounds, three assists and a steal versus Canisius. For the week, Lewis averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting .429 (9-21) from the field.
