Hightower, Rostant Earn Indoor Track & Field Honors

Edison, NJ – Rider University’s David Hightower was selected as the MAAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, while Manhattan College’s Cara Rostant earned the award on the women’s side.
Hightower, a junior from Easton, Pa., won the 55m hurdles in an IC4A qualifying time of 7.43 in a dual meet with The College of New Jersey. He also helped the sprint medley relay win in a program record time of 3:31.47.
Rostant, a junior from Valley Stream, N.Y., won both the 200 and 400 meters at the Giegengack Invitational last weekend, qualifying for the ECAC Championships in both events. On Friday, she notched a season-best time of 24.61 seconds in the 200. Rostant then came back on Saturday to record her second ECAC-qualifying time of the weekend, winning the 400 in 55.56 seconds, more than a second faster than the runner-up.). Both times are number one in the MAAC for the 2011-12 season.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Friday, February 17th at The New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
