McGrath, Morr and Thistle Named Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

BRIAN McGRATH, MANHATTAN

A, Jr., 6-0, Penfield, Garden City, N.Y./Garden City

 

Junior attackman Brian McGrath was instrumental in Manhattan's 1-1 week as he had three goals per game scoring a total of seven points. McGrath notched back-to-back hat tricks in games with #11 Princeton and Providence. During the Jaspers 11-9 victory over the Friars, the junior tallied three goals and assisted on another as he finished with four points. McGrath leads the Jaspers this year in goals with six and is second on the team in points.

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

TOM MORR, SIENA

G, R-Sr., 6-2, 207, Rockville Centre, N.Y./Chaminade

 

Morr continues to be a game-changer in goal for the Saints and had another tremendous performance over the weekend in a road contest at Big East power St. John's. Morr made 14 saves, stopping 63.6% of the shots he faced and picked up three groundballs. So far this season, Morr leads the nation averaging 15.3 saves per game and his .622 save percentage is sixth nationally.

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

MATT THISTLE, MANHATTAN

A, Fr., 5-6, 135, Chelmsford, Ma./Bishop Guertin

 

Freshman attackman Matt Thistle has made an immediate impact for Manhattan averaging 5.50 points per game this week to pace the attack. In his first career game against a ranked opponent, Thistle scored two goals and added four assists to finish with a game high six points against #11 Princeton on Wednesday. He would then follow that performance up with a three goal, two assist performance in a 11-9 Jasper win over Providence on Saturday. Thistle is currently the team leader in goals (6) and points (11) while placing second on the squad with five assists.
