Loyola Wins 2012 MAAC Men's Golf Championship

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. - Loyola University Maryland claimed its fifth straight conference title at the 2012 MAAC Men's Golf Championship at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Loyola senior Jay Mulieri won the McLeod Memorial Award as the MAAC's individual championship with a total score of 212 (-4), one shot off the conference record. Mulieri has now shot eight straight rounds of par or better. He is the second Mulieri to win the McLeod Award after his brother Michael won back-to-back championships in 2008-09.

The Greyhounds posted a 3-day league record total of 868 (+4). Saint Peter's College finished in second with 890 and Fairfield University was third with 896. Iona College came in fourth with 899, followed by Canisius College (909), Siena College (936), Manhattan College (942), Rider University (953), and Niagara University (969).

Saint Peter's Peter Falloon was voted the 2012 MAAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year.

Loyola's Bart George earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors, which is based on regular season Golfstat rankings.
