Loudonvile, N.Y. - The Siena College Athletic Department presented a $1,000
check on May 30, 2012, to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region,
Inc. By virtue of winning the MAAC Pepsi Refresh Goodworks Challenge, Siena
received the check to award to the charity of its choice.
"Ronald McDonald House Charities salute the Siena
Athletics family for winning the 2012 MAAC Pepsi Refresh Goodworks Challenge,"
said Jeff Yule, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the
Capital Region, Inc. "We continue to be humbled by the ongoing support that the
Siena Athletic Department provides to the families that we serve."
This marks the seventh year of a partnership between
Siena Athletics and the Ronald McDonald House as part of the department's
"Saints in the Community" initiative. Rising volleyball senior and incoming
Siena Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President Elizabeth Ives and
rising men's basketball senior OD Anosike were on hand to present the check.
Following the presentation, members of the athletic department staff prepared a
meal for the families at the house.
"Our families look forward to the visits by each of the
athletic teams," Yule added. "Whether it is home cooked meals, visits to the
Ronald McDonald Family Room in the Children's Hospital at the Albany Medical
Center, or clean-ups and other service projects around the Ronald McDonald
House, we will be forever grateful for the friendship of the Saints!."
Siena College was the runaway winner in the MAAC
Goodworks Challenge, an annual contest between the league's membership that
