Grenci
had a mammoth week, averaging 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and shot 65.4% from the
field in leading the Saints to a perfect 2-0 week. Grenci shot 17-26 from the
field including a perfect 4-4 from three, while making 12-14 (85.7%) from the
free throw line. On Thursday, Grenci scored a career-high 30 points in the
Saints' win at Saint Peter's. She added 20 more as Siena beat Loyola for the
first time in three years Sunday.
Rookie of the Week
Sydney Coffey, Marist,
Freshman, Guard, 6-0, New Hope, Minn./Hopkins
Coffey
had a career weekend in Marist's two wins at Canisius and Niagara, averaging 14
points and 5.5 rebounds. She shot 50% from both the field and three-point range,
went 14-15 from the free throw line and had a 3.0 assist-turnover ratio. On
Friday versus Canisius, picked fourth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, she
nearly had her first double-double with 12 points and a career-high nine
rebounds. Coffey was a perfect 1-1 from three-point range and hit 5-6 free
throws. Against Niagara, ranked second in the MAAC Preseason Poll, on Sunday
she set another personal best, scoring 16 points, including a perfect 9-9 from
the free throw line. She scored nine straight points in the first half to give
Marist the lead for good and also added three assists, tying her career-high. Defensively,
Coffey was in charge of one of Niagara's top offensive threats, Meghan McGuinness,
and held her to just 2-10 shooting from the field.
