Molloy, Cronin, Bailey and Tobias Honored With Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ - Rider University's Brian Molloy was named the MAAC
Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Loyola University's Caitlin Cronin earned the
award on the women's side. Rider's Wayco Bailey was chosen as the Men's Diver
of the Week, and Marist's Kimberly Tobias was selected as the Women's Diver of
the Week.
In
Rider's win over Saint Peter's University on Saturday, Molloy won three
individual events and one relay event. He won the 50 free in 21.82. He also
finished first in both distance events, touching with a final time of 4:43.69
in the 500-yard freestyle and 10:02.88 in the 1000-yard freestyle. Molloy swam
on the winning 400 free relay that finished with a final time of 3:13.48.
Against
the University of Maryland Baltimore County this weekend, Cronin led the
Greyhounds to a pair of first place finishes. She won the 100 butterfly in a
final time of 1:01.00. She also touched first in the 200 freestyle in 1:55.49. Cronin
finished runner-up in the 100 freestyle in touching with a time of 53.48.
In MAAC action
this weekend at Saint Peter's, Bailey won the 1-meter diving event and
qualified for the NCAA Zone meet with a score of 314.18. He also finished runner-up
on the 3-meter board with a score of 293.40.
Tobias had another strong
weekend of competition as she swept both boards in the Red Foxes' win over
Boston College on Saturday. The sophomore dove to a 39.97-point victory in the
1-meter with a final score of 256.87. In the 3-meter event, Tobias held off the
runner-up by a 5.02-point margin at 259.87 to 254.85.
The 2013 MAAC Men's and
Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 14-16 at the
Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
