MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

RECO McLAREN, Fairfield

F, Sr., 5-10, 160, Bridgeport, CT/Central/Herkimer CC

The junior forward played a role in all three goals scored by Fairfield last week. McLaren tallied both goals in the Stags’ 2-1 win over Niagara on Saturday. Trailing by a 1-0 margin, McLaren posted the game-tying goal with less than 15 minutes remaining in regulation. The senior ended the game with his team-leading sixth goal of the year just five minutes into overtime. In a narrow loss to Iona earlier in the week, McLaren picked up an assist on Jordan Ayris’ goal that put the Stags in front during the second half.

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

ERIC KLENOFSKY, Monmouth

G, Fr., 6-6, 170, Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic

Since Klenofsky has taken over the starting goalkeeper position five games ago, the Hawks have posted an unbeaten 4-0-1 record, including three shutouts. Klenofsky recorded a pair of shutouts last week, both on the road. He made one save against Rider, and did not have a shot on goal at Marist. A key reason for the lack of shots on target has been Klenofsky’s communication with his back line. Including the perfect week in net, Klenofsky has now posted a miniscule 0.35 goals-against average and an .800 saves percentage. It is the second consecutive week that Klenofsky has been named Defensive Player of the Week in the MAAC.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

JAMES DOIG, Quinnipiac

M, Fr., 5-8, 165, Liverpool, England/St. Francis Xavier

Freshman James Doig was in the middle of the action last week for the Bobcats. He assisted on both game winning goals for Quinnipiac last week as the Bobcats went 2-0 in conference action. In a 1-0 win over Marist last Wednesday, Doig assisted on Tobi Esche’s winning goal in the 39th minute on a corner kick cross. Doig collected his second assist in a 2-1 win over Canisius when he redirected a pass to Simon Hinde, who finished the play for the winning score.
