Gomez, Arciello, Dodway & Lonkert Honored with MAAC Weekly Awards Honored with MAAC Weekly Awards

Edison, N.J. – Saint Peter’s University’s Jonathan Gomez was named the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Marist College’s Maddie Arciello earned the award on the Women's side.  Marist College’s Josh Dodway and Heather Lonkert were chosen as the Men’s and Women's Divers of the Week.                                

Gomez made quite a splash in his collegiate debut after posting four first-place finishes and one second-place standing at the Sonny Werblin Invitational over the weekend. The freshman won the 500 free with a time of 4:42.77. Gomez also won the 200 back, posting a time of 1:54.24, and the 200 Fly, with a time of 1:54.84. The freshman also finished second in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:57.88. Continuing his day, Gomez was on the winning 200-medley relay team that finished in 1:40.13, which included his backstroke split of 24.74, and also the first place 200-free relay, with a split of 22.71 that posted a finishing time of 1:29.92.

 Senior Maddie Arciello won all four of her events this past weekend as she helped lead her team to a 169.5 to 125.5 victory over Canisius in Marist women’s swimming season opener. Arciello was the last leg of the 200 yard medley relay in which Marist recorded a time of 1:49.55. She won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.52, the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.50, and the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53.48.

 Sophomore Josh Dodway earned himself a spot at the ECAC Diving Championships with his 3 meter dive. Dodway won the event with a score of 286.65. He also won the 1 meter diving event, scoring a 287.33.

 Lonkert won her one-meter dive with a score of 250.50. She then placed second on the three-meter scoring a 264.80 in Rider’s dual meet at Seton Hall.
