MAAC Sports
EDISON, N.J. – Senior Dana Costello of the Monmouth University soccer team has been added to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers List for Week 9. Earlier this week, Costello was selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal and dishing off an assist in Monmouth’s 2-0 week with wins over Rider and Marist.
Most recently, the Hawks defeated Saint Peter’s 3-0 on Wednesday, clinching the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship, Oct. 31-Nov. 4 at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at Disney World. In their first year in the MAAC, the Hawks also solidified at least a share of the regular season title. Monmouth, which is now 14-1-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the MAAC, has one more regular season match remaining, at Quinnipiac, on Saturday. The Hawks are riding a 10-game unbeaten streak with 12 shutouts.
"Dana had a great week leading our team in the attack," head coach Krissy Turner said during an interview with the Monmouth University Athletic Communications Office earlier this week. "Her effort against Marist was fantastic. She has had a terrific career and we look forward to her performing at her best in the next few games."
Costello, who scored the game-winning goal against Rider, and assisted on the game-winner versus Marist, ranks second on the team with 21 points on a team-high nine assists, following Monmouth's game at Saint Peter's.
Costello, a three-time team captain currently ranks eighth all-time in Monmouth history with 81 career points. She currently has 10 game winning goals in her career, and her 27 assists in her career is tied for second all-time.
The Hawks are currently ranked sixth in the latest poll released by the NSCAA's Northeast Region.
