Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Marist men's and women's lacrosse teams participated in the second annual Edward Taylor Coombs Memorial Fall Ball Shootout, on Oct. 12-13, at Hatboro-Horsham High School in Horsham, Pa.
"This weekend is a date that everyone within our program has circled on their calendars at the start of the year,” said head men’s lacrosse coach Keegan Wilkinson. “Having the opportunity to play at Eddie's high school is something that means an awful lot to our players. I know they are anxious to get down there, to play in front of the Hatboro-Horsham community, and to help support an amazing cause for their fallen teammate. Eric Coombs and the ETC Foundation have worked incredibly hard to create a first class event."
The two-day tournament is in memory of former Marist men's lacrosse player Eddie Coombs, a Hatboro-Horsham graduate, who tragically passed away in August of 2011, just prior to the start of his sophomore year. Both teams sold t-shirts and collected donations of over $2000 at the tournament and participated as well. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation, which was established by Eddie's family to honor those student-athletes who exemplify the same strong character as Eddie.
