Clorley and Avery Named Corvias ECAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

Edison, NJ Iona College's Daniel Clorley was named Corvias ECAC Division I Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Kate Avery, also of Iona, earned the award on the women’s side for the third time this season.

Clorley, who was named the MAAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week earlier this week, was Iona's top finisher at the 2013 Pre-National Invitational Blue Race hosted by Indiana State University, finishing 10th overall with an 8k time of 23:41.13. Iona jumped 10 spots to No. 8 in this week's USTFCCCA national poll after finishing third overall ahead of three nationally ranked programs in the event, and just behind No. 1 Colorado and No. 4 Oregon. There were 52 teams and 359 competitors in the Blue race.

Avery, who was also honored by the MAAC as Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time this season,led the Gaels at the 2013 Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State University. Avery finished ninth overall at the event as the Maroon & Gold placed 19th as a team in the Blue race. Avery completed the 6k course in 20:18.12. She was just over a second behind the seventh place performer, Villanova's Emily Lipari. There were 49 teams and 340 competitors in the Blue race.
