Edison, NJ – Three teams qualified for the upcoming 2013 Inaugural MAAC Field Hockey Championship to be held Nov. 8-9 at Ben Cohen Field at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Bryant University, Quinnipiac University and Rider University each clinched a spot over the weekend.

Bryant clinched a spot in the championship with a 1-0 win against Robert Morris University on Oct. 25. The Bulldogs have a 3-1 conference record and will play two more conference games against Quinnipiac on Friday and against Sacred Heart University on Sunday.

Quinnipiac earned a spot in the championship with a 4-2 win against Monmouth on Sunday. The Bobcats have a 3-1 conference record and will play two matches next weekend, against Bryant on Friday and against Siena on Sunday.

Rider qualified for the championship with a 4-0 win against Sacred Heart on Sunday. The Broncs raised their conference record to 4-1 and have one conference game remaining against Monmouth on Friday and one non-conference game remaining against Princeton on Sunday.

As a part of the MAAC Championship format, only four conference teams can advance to the championship. Monmouth University and Robert Morris University will compete this weekend to earn the fourth and final spot.

If Monmouth University defeats either Rider or Robert Morris this weekend, the Hawks would earn the final spot in the MAAC Field Hockey Championship. Robert Morris can qualify only if Monmouth were to lose both games this weekend.

All games of the 2013 Inaugural MAAC Field Hockey Championship will air live in HD on the MAAC’s digital network, MAAC.TV.
