Guiney, Feiertag and McTamney Take MAAC Weekly Honors

Rycke Guiney of Marist, Claire Feiertag of Niagara and Alexis McTamney of Monmouth were named MAAC women’s soccer Weekly Award Winners.

 

MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

RYCKE GUINEY, Marist

M, Sr., 5-4, Naperville, IL/Naperville North

Guiney led Marist to a 5-0 victory Rider as she erupted for three goals and added an assist. She set a Red Foxes record for most points in a single match with seven. Guiney scored the match’s first goal on a header and then scored just before halftime to give Marist a 2-0 lead at the break. It was the first hat trick for Marist in 15 years. Guiney also had a shot on goal in a 1-0 loss to Siena earlier in the week.

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

CLAIRE FEIERTAG, Niagara

G, So., 5-7, Ridgeway, Ont./Ridgeway Crystal Beach

 

Feiertag, a sophomore goalie, helped Niagara to a pair of victories last week as the Purple Eagles extended their win streak to three matches. In a 1-0 victory over Canisius, Feiertag registered seven saves, one shy of career high. Feiertag then made two saves in a 2-1 double overtime victory over Saint Peter’s.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

ALEXIS McTAMNEY, Monmouth

F, Fr., 5-4, Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Regional

McTamney receives Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, coming off of a seven-point week that saw the Hawks win both matches. McTamney had a goal and three assists in a 6-0 blanking of Manhattan last Wednesday. Then on Saturday against Fairfield, she netted the first goal of the match in a 2-0 win over the Red Foxes. McTamney now has four game-winning goals on the season.
