EDISON, NJ – The field and seeds are set for the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship, which will be held Nov. 15-17 at Fairfield University’s Lessing Field.
A victory by Quinnipiac University and a loss by Monmouth University in the final matches of the year on Saturday forced a tie for the MAAC’s regular season championship between the two schools. Both teams finished with 7-1-2 records in their first seasons in conference play.
However, the Hawks are the No. 1 seed in the upcoming championship because they won the tiebreaker with Quinnipiac, winning the head-to-head competition with a 1-0 victory over the Bobcats on Oct. 26.
Iona is the No. 3 seed in the championship, finishing the regular season with a 7-2-1 record.
Manhattan is the No. 4 seed in the championship, with a 5-3-2 record. Fairfield also finished in a tie for fourth place in the regular season with a 5-3-2 mark, but Manhattan won the head-to-head tiebreaker with a 5-2 win over the Stags on Oct. 9.
Top-seeded Monmouth will face No. 4 seed Manhattan in the first match on Nov. 15 at 4:00 p.m., and in the second match at 7:00 p.m., No. 2 seed Quinnipiac will take on No. 3 seed Fairfield.
The winning teams will advance to the championship round on Nov. 17 at 1:00 p.m.
