Joy Adams, Iona

Iona College sophomore forward Joy Adams tallied three consecutive double-doubles for the Gaels in a trio of non-conference matchups this past week. Over the three games, she averaged 17.0 points, 15.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals, connecting on 44.0% of her attempts. Adams began the week with a 14 point, 15 rebound effort at St. John's. Against the Red Storm, nine of Adams' 15 boards came on the offensive end. In a home win over Pacific three days later, she played all 40 minutes, finishing with 15 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and a season high three assists. Adams then finished the week with 22 points and 16 rebounds in the Gaels' road win at Navy. She pulled down nine offensive rebounds and connected on 52.6% of her shots and knocked down a season high 10 field goals.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Kayla Grimme, Manhattan
Fr., C, 6-2, Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area
Grimme finished just shy of a double-double in Manhattan’s 63-43 loss at Towson on Saturday night. She had a game-high 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting while also pulling down nine rebounds in 37 minutes of action. Grimme also recorded an assist, a block and a steal in the contest. She has started each of the Jaspers’ first two games and leads the team in both scoring (12.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg).
