Monmouth Climbs To No. 5 In NSCAA Northeast Region

EDISON, N.J. – Fresh off of its 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, the Monmouth University women’s soccer team is now ranked No. 5 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Northeast Region poll.
The Hawks won the MAAC Championship on Monday, at Lake Buena Vista, FL., with a 2-0 win over Fairfield. The Hawks shut out all three opponents they faced in the MAAC Championship, and raised their record to 17-1-2. Monmouth has recorded 16 shutouts on the year, including eight straight.
Monmouth won the MAAC’s regular season title with an 8-0-2 record. The Hawks are third in the nation in goals against average (0.309).
The top four of the most recent Northeast Region poll include No.1 Marquette (16-3), No. 2 Georgetown (15-1-2), No. 3 Louisville (12-5-1) and No. 4 Rutgers (13-4-2). Following No. 5 Monmouth are No. 6 St. John’s (10-4-3), No. 7 DePaul (11-4-2) No. 8 South Florida (10-4-5), No. 9 Connecticut (11-9-0) and No. 10 UMBC (12-4-2).
