Quinnipiac & Robert Morris to Face Off in First Ever MAAC Field Hockey Championship

Lawrenceville, N.J. –The second seeded Quinnipiac University Bobcats will face the fourth seeded Robert Morris University Colonials in the 2013 Inaugural MAAC Field Hockey Championship game on the campus of Rider University at Ben Cohen Field in Lawrenceville, N.J.

The two schools last met on Oct. 18 at Quinnipiac where the Bobcats defeated the Colonials 3-0. This is Robert Morris’ first trip to a championship final game in school history and Quinnipiac’s first trip to a title game since winning crown in 2003.

Quinnipiac finished the regular season with a record of 5-1 in MAAC play and 12-6 overall. The Bobcats defeated the third seeded Bryant University Bulldogs 5-0 in the semifinal game. The Bobcats will be led by 2013 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and Co-Player of the Year Jess Rusin and Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Megan Conaboy.

Robert Morris, seeded fourth in the tournament, earned their spot in the Championship Final when they upset first seeded Rider University 1-0 in their semifinal match-up. The Colonials hold a record of 3-3 in the MAAC and 10-7 overall. Robert Morris is seeking their first conference title in school history and will be led by 2013 All-MAAC Second Team honorees Jess Martin-Brown, Chloe McIlwaine, Simone Bindels and two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Erin McKenzie.

The winner of the championship will receive the MAAC's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. The selection show is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th at 10pm on NCAA.com with the play-in game set for Wednesday.

The Championship Final will be played at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Rider University’s Ben Cohen Field and can be seen live on MAAC.TV. Live stats will be available through MAACSports.com.
