MAAC Well Represented On NSCAA All-North Atlantic

EDISON, N.J. – Eleven men’s soccer student-athletes representing six Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference institutions were named to the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s All-North Atlantic Region First or Second Teams, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced.
MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year Borja Angoitia of Quinnipiac, MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Matt Jeffery of Monmouth, and MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Franklin Castellanos of Iona were all named to the NSCAA’s North Atlantic Region First Team.
Also named to the All-North Atlantic Region First Team were midfielders Joseph Schmid of Monmouth, Simon Hinde of Quinnipiac and Ignacio Magnato of Iona, and forward Reco McLaren of Fairfield.
All-North Atlantic Team second team selections from the MAAC include defender Tobias Esche of Quinnipiac, midfielder James Beeston of Siena, forward Sammy Adjei of Iona and forward Ajani Samuels of Canisius.
All of the NSCAA’s North Atlantic first team selections were also named to the MAAC’s first team at the conclusion of the regular season in November. Additionally, Esche and Beeston were All-MAAC First Team choices, while Adjei and Samuels were both named the All-MAAC Second Team.
