Fairfield to Face Nebraska in NCAA Volleyball Championship

Edison, N.J. - The 2013 MAAC Volleyball Champions Fairfield University will take on University of Nebraska in the 2013 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship in Lincoln, Ne.
Fairfield (19-12; 14-4 MAAC) won their second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship title by defeating Marist College, 3-0, on November 24. Entering the NCAA Tournament, the Stags have captured 16 of their last 17 matches. Fairfield is making its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Last season, the Stags made their first NCAA appearance in more than a decade. Fairfield drew sixth-seeded USC in the first round but fell to the Women of Troy, 3-0, in Los Angeles.
The Cornhuskers are 23-6 overall, with a 13-2 mark at home and finished its Big 10 slate with a 16-4 mark. The winner of the first round match between the Stags and Cornhuskers will advance to face the winner of the other opening round site between Oregon and Miami. The Ducks are 19-11 entering the tournament, with a 12-8 record in the Pac 12, while the Orange went 19-11 on the season and 12-8 in the ACC.
The first round match of the tournament will take place on Friday, December 6. at 8:00 p.m. EST.
