MAAC Player of the Week

GEORGE BEAMON,  Manhattan

Senior swing George Beamon led the Jaspers to a pair of road victories, including a convincing 86-68 win at South Carolina, by averaging 24 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals. Beamon came up big in the second half against the Gamecocks, scoring 19 of his game-high 26 points in the final stanza.  Beamon contributed five rebounds and four steals, and made 3-of-4 of his three-point attempts, at South Carolina. In the Jaspers’ thrilling 84-81 win over Buffalo at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, Beamon scored 22 points with four rebounds and two steals. Beamon shot 48.5 per cent from the floor, including 55.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 84.6 percent from the foul line in the two games. He has scored 20 or more points in eight of 11 games this season.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

KHALLID HART, Marist

Fr., G, 6-2, 180, Newark, Del./The Sanford School

Red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart is the MAAC’s Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week. Hart averaged 15 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0  assists and 2.0 steals per game as Marist scored victories over Bucknell and Penn. Hart tied his career-high with 21 points against Penn, hitting 8-of-11 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the three-point line. He was also good on 3-of-3 from the foul line and added four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Earlier in the week in Red Foxes’ win over Bucknell, he scored nine points, and contributed three steals  and two assists. For the week, he sank 57.9 percent of his shots from the floor (11-of-19) , and was 6-of-6 from the foul line.
