MAAC Men's Teams Head Back To Hardwood

EDISON, N.J. – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball teams enjoyed a brief four-day hiatus from intercollegiate competition to celebrate the Christmas holiday, and are ready to resume action as they return to the hardwood this weekend. In the final weekend of non-conference action, three MAAC teams will play on Saturday, four will see action on Sunday, and two more will be in action on Monday.

On Saturday, Dec. 28, Saint Peter’s will entertain Cornell at 2:00, and Fairfield was visit Bucknell, also at 2:00. At 8 p.m. on Saturday, Iona continues its road journey by facing Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA.

On Sunday, Dec. 29, Rider, winners of three of its last four games, will host Penn at noon, and Niagara, led by the nation's leading scorer Antoine Mason (28.3 ppg) will entertain Brown at 2:00. Canisius, which has won five of its last six, visits Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. in a game to be televised on ESPNU. Quinnipiac, with senior forward Ike Azotack averagin a "double-double" (16.3 ppg, 10.7 rpg) will travel to Corvallis, Ore., to face Oregon State (11:00 p.m. EST).

The MAAC basketball “weekend” closes out on Monday, Dec. 30 with two games. Monmouth will look to extend its three-game win streak when it hosts Wagner in a matinee at 3:00 p.m., and Siena will entertain Fordham at 7:00 p.m.
