Brian Cleary – Fairfield University
Sr., Cross Country, Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood
Senior captain Brian Cleary saved his best for last, pacing the Fairfield men’s cross country team in his two final collegiate races. He crossed the line in 20th place in his final race, the IC4A Championship, finishing at 26:32.6, one of the top times in program history at historic Van Cortlandt Park. The week prior Cleary ran a personal-best 10K at the NCAA Regional, finishing at 32:24.1, shaving 2:21 off of his previous best run. He was the Stags top finisher in both races. In addition the accounting major, and double minor in accounting information systems and classical studies, is the CEO of the Fairfield Mirror, an Eucharistic Minister and works in the Campus Ministry office. Cleary is a three-time MAAC All-Academic team selection and has been a Dean’s List selection in four consecutive semesters
Marissa Watroba – Canisius College
Fr., Breast/IM, Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield
Marissa Watroba has had a breakout start to her freshman campaign. Through four meets she has three first place finishes in each of the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes. Watroba was named the MAAC Female Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 25 for her performance at Colgate in which she set the school-record in the 200-yard breaststroke.
