Monmouth's Jeffrey & Aliotta Claim MAAC Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week

Edison, N.J. – Monmouth University’s Errol Jeffrey and Rachel Aliotta have been named this week’s MAAC Indoor Track & Field Male and Female Performer of the Week, for the week of December 9th.
At the 5th Annual MAC Classic on Saturday afternoon, Errol Jeffrey helped the Monmouth men’s track and field team to a first place finish, totaling more than 100 points more than the next closest team. Jeffrey bested 21 competitors with his IC4A qualifying mark in the shot put of 59 feet, 10 ¼ inches and also won the weight throw over 21 others in the field with a toss of 63 feet, 2 ¾ inches, also good enough for IC4A qualifying marks.
Rachel Aliotta led the MU women’s track and field team to a first place mark at the 5th Annual MAC Classic on Saturday afternoon, with Monmouth ranking 103 points ahead of second place Wagner. Aliotta won the shot put, throwing 46 feet, 3 ¼ inches to top eleven competitors and qualify with ECAC marks. Aliotta turned around and placed second in the weight throw behind teammate Tilah Young, throwing for a distance of 55 feet, 1 ½ inches.
The 2013 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Friday, February 21st at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in NYC.
