Offensive Player of the Week

 

Jessica Burdge, Wagner College

So., A, 5-9, Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's

 

In four games during the Brown Invitational, Burdge recorded 11 goals, 1 assist, 7 steals and 4 sprints, leading the Seahawks in scoring during three wins. She also scored three goals in games against Brown, Claremont Mudd Scripps and Colorado State while adding two goals and an assist against Brown in their second game.


Defensive Player of the Week

 

Rebecca Thomas, Marist

Sr., GK, 5-11, Cape Town, South Africa/University of Cape Town

 

Thomas started right off where she left from last year's Co-Defensive Player of the Year effort, making 32 saves while playing all but two quarters of Marist's four games against some of the best teams in the country. She started off the weekend by making seven saves and three steals against #5 Arizona State before making four saves against #15 Loyola Marymount while only playing for the first half. In the Red Foxes' first win of the season over Sonoma State, Thomas stopped nine shots and made two steals while only allowing two goals for an .818 save percentage. She also registered her first assist of the season. Against Santa Clara in the weekend finale, an 8-7 win for Marist, Thomas tied her season-high 12 saves and adding another two steals which tied for the team-high.

 

Rookie of the Week

 

Caitlyn Jackson, VMI

Fr., CD, 5-10, Gilroy, Calif./Archbishop Mity

 

In her first collegiate action, Jackson got things off on the right foot, notching six goals in her first-ever game at VMI, tying her with teammate Celine Lazzaro for a weekend-high for VMI. Her 6 goals tied her with the program's second-most goals scored in a single game. Jackson concluded the weekend with goals en route to VMI's 3-1 start, the best in program history.
