Offensive Player of the Week

 

Amy Olsen, Iona

Sr., 2M, 5-7, Baytown, Texas/Ross Sterling

 

The Iona College women's water polo team continued early season play with a 21-14 win over St. Francis. Preseason MAAC Player of the Year Amy Olsen led the Gaels with eight goals and three assists.


Defensive Player of the Week

 

Rebecca Thomas, Marist

Sr., GK, 5-11, Cape Town, South Africa/University of Cape Town

 

Thomas had another solid weekend in the Marist cage, going 2-1 this past weekend at the Bucknell Invite. She recorded a .512 save percentage and a 8.4 GAA while only playing two and a half of Marist's four games. Thomas tied her season-high with 12 saves, for a .706 save percentage in a thrilling 6-5 victory over Brown, who defeated the Red Foxes twice last season. After registering two saves in just two quarters against #10 Princeton, Thomas got Marist back in the win column with an eight-save performance against George Washington.

 

Rookie of the Week

 

Lily Doerfler, Wagner

Fr., C, Annapolis, MD / Broadneck

In her second career collegiate tournament, Doerfler recorded 9 goals, 1 assist, 4 steals, and drawing 10 exclusions in four games during the Bucknell Invitational. Doerfler scored two goals in a 13-6 win against Mercyhurst and two more in an 15-11 loss to #12 Indiana, before finding the net four times and adding an assist in a 13-5 win over Brown.
