Riverdale, N.Y. - Student-athletes from Manhattan college participated in a community service
event titled "L.O.V.E. Kenya."
The
Lasallian Outreach Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.) provides service and
social-justice travel experiences.Each L.O.V.E. trip offers immersion
experiences, and the opportunity to experience an unfamiliar culture and
learn about issues of social justice. For this L.O.V.E. trip a team of
eight was selected to travel to Kenya for just under two weeks of the colleges
winter break. While in Kenya, this team met tons of new people through helping
out in schools and small communities. This trip helped them to broaden their
horizons by focusing on faith, service, forming community and reflecting
on issues of justice. All members of this team developed quality,
value-based relationships with fellow participants, as well as with communities
whose culture, language and resources may be very different from your own.
