Edison, NJ - Five MAAC Men's Lacrosse student-athletes were named on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List which includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2013 Tewaaraton Award.  Among those selected are Canisius College's Tim Edwards, University of Detroit Mercy's Shayne Adams, Marist College's Connor Rice, Manhattan College's Sean McMahon and Siena College's Danny Martinsen.

Edwards, from Jamesville, New York, was named 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year and named to the All-MAAC Second team in 2012. Last season, he netted the game-winning goal in the MAAC Championship against Siena, scoring with 1:46 remaining in the 10-9 victory. He also ranked fourth among freshman midfielders in the country with 2.29 points per game.

Adams, a native of St. Catharines Ontario, was selected to the 2012 All-MAAC second team. He was also named his team's Offensive Player of the Year last season. In 2012, Adams led Detroit with 33 goals and tied for fourth most in the MAAC and ranked 24th nationally in goals per game with 2.2.

Rice, a native of Penfield, New York, was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List and received Preseason All-American Honorable Mention last season. He led the team in scoring in the 2012 season, scoring 17 goals, tying for second on the team, and recorded a team-high 26 assists for 43 points while finishing sixth in the MAAC with 3.07 points per game.

McMahon, a native of New Milford, Connecticut, has been a staple of the Jaspers defense in his first two seasons in Riverdale. Last season he finished fifth on the team in ground balls while also tying for fourth in caused turnovers. This year, the long-pole is tops among position players in ground balls and first on the team in caused turnovers. He has also been worked into the rotation as a face off man.

Martinsen, from Smithtown, New York, was selected as the 2013 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year by the MAAC Men's Lacrosse coaches.  He was named to the 2012 All-MAAC Tournament team and 2012 All-MAAC First team. Recently, he was chosen as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and top female college lacrosse player in the United States.

The selection committees are made up of top collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation. Committees will make additions to these lists as the season progresses and athletes earn a spot along side these elite players.

Both lists will be narrowed to 25 men's and women's nominees in late April. In mid-May, five men's and five women's finalists will be announced. These finalists will be invited to Washington, D.C. for the 13th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, May 30 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.
