Marist Red Foxes Sweep Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards

- Marist College's Jason Ruddy was named the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week,
while fellow Red Fox Bonnie Orr earned the award on the women's side. Marist's
Sean Molloy was chosen as the Men's Diver of the Week along with Kimberly
Tobias being selected as the Women's Diver of the Week.
Ruddy earned a pair of wins on Saturday against Binghamton University as
he came in first place in the 200-yd butterfly and 200-yd IM. In the butterfly
race, he won with a time of 1:58.20, 1.35-seconds ahead of the field. His
second win came in the 200-yd IM with a final time of 1:55.93. The sophomore
nearly went three-for-three as he was out-touched in the 100-yd breaststroke by
just 0.04 seconds at 59.57 to 59.61.
In Marist's win against Binghamton, Orr collected two back-to-back
with victories in the 1000- and 200-yd freestyle. She held off teammate Bethany
Powhida in a close 1000-yd race at 10:38.17 before winning in the 200-yd event in
1:56.32. The junior's third win of the afternoon came later in the 500-yd
freestyle as she once again out-dueled Powhida in a close race 5:14.50 to
5:15.86.
In diving action, Molloy registered a season-high score on the 1-meter
board as won the event and qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving meet with a
score of 304.80. In the 3-meter event, the junior finished runner-up with a
final score of 296.92.
On Saturday, Tobias she swept both diving boards versus Binghamton. In
close matchups with Binghamton's Imani Williams, the sophomore came through in
pressure spots as she won the 1-meter event 242.62 to 241.12 and the 3-meter by
a score of 265.95 to 261.60.
The 2013
MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held
February 14-16 at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
