Edison, NJ - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and The Jimmy Fund teamed up for the 2013 MAAC Basketball Championships to raise contributions for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is among the leading cancer research and care centers in the United States.

The MAAC involved the Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) on each campus to assist in spreading the word about The Jimmy Fund and collecting contributions for the organization. Early in January, the MAAC brought student-athlete representatives and administrators to Dana-Farber in order for the group to learn more about The Jimmy Fund and how the organization supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The group toured the facility and was able to meet key Jimmy Fund personnel along the way.

While the group was at the facility, the MAAC filmed their visit and conducted interviews with student-athletes and representatives from The Jimmy Fund. The full video can be seen on MAAC.TV under the features tab.

As part of the partnership with The Jimmy Fund, the MAAC will be running a text-to-give campaign where fans can text "JIMMY" to 22122 to contribute $5 to the Jimmy Fund*. There will also be Jimmy Fund canisters at MAAC basketball contests throughout the remainder of the regular season for fans to contribute. The culmination of the partnership will be at the 2013 MAAC Basketball Championships where a giant Jimmy Fund canister will be located at the MassMutual Center where the MAAC encourages fans to help to fill the can with their donations.

Those who attend the 2013 MAAC Basketball Championships will also be contributing with a part of the proceeds from their ticket purchases. For fans who purchase tickets to the Championships, $2 of every ticket of more than $15 and $1 from every ticket sold of $10 or under will benefit The Jimmy Fund.

The MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will be held from March 7th through March 11th at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
