Edison, NJ – Manhattan College swept the first MAAC Outdoor Track & Field weekly awards. Brian McGovern and Lydia Wehrli  were named the Performers of the Week for March 26.

McGovern, a Senior from Yonkers, New York, shattered his own school record to win the pole vault at the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday. His leap of 5.36 meters (17 feet, seven inches) was 30  centimeters higher than his old mark, set in 2010. With that performance, which was also a new Irish national record, McGovern qualified for both the IC4A Championships and NCAA East Regional.

Wehrli, a Sophomore from Anieres, Switzerland, broke a seven-year-old school record in the hammer throw at the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., on Friday night. Her effort of 57.16 meters (187 feet, six inches) was good for fifth place overall and topped Marina Liander’s 2006 mark of 54.41 m (178’6). In addition, Wehrli qualified for the ECAC Championships and NCAA East Regional in the event.

The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held on Sunday, May 5th at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
