MAAC Women's Basketball Semifinal Action Set for Saturday

Springfield, Mass. - The matchups for the 2013 MAAC Women's
Basketball Championship semifinal round are set for Saturday, March 9 at the
MassMutual Center in Sprinfield, Mass.
The first game tips-off at 9:30 a.m. on ESPN3 and features #6 Siena College
against #2 Iona College. Siena is coming off of a 52-48 victory against
Fairfield in the quarterfinals. The Saints made several key stands defensively
and hung on late to advance to the semifinals. Iona extends their winning streak
to 8 games with a 76-58 blowout win over #7 Canisius. The Gaels split the
regular season against Siena both teams winning at home.
Game two sees #5 Niagara University take on
top-seeded Marist College in a 11:30 a.m. showdown on ESPN3. Niagara weathered
a run by Rider in the final 3 minutes of the quarterfinal game to hold on for a
59-54 victory. Marist has won their last 19 games including a 72-50 routing of
Manhattan in the quarterfinals. Marist has won both meetings against the Purple
Eagles this season.
