Edison, NJ – Saint Peter University’s Isaiah Harris and Manhattan College’s Doreen Horschig were named the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week.
Harris, a Junior from Orange, New Jersey, became the first ever Peacock to clear the seven-foot mark in the High Jump event in Virginia, claiming a second-place finish at the Mason Spring Invitational with a jump of 2.05m. The jump established the highest mark of any MAAC athlete in the event thus far in the season and puts him tied for 13th in the NCAA Div. I East Outdoor Qualifying List. He was also the second-best collegiate finisher in the Triple Jump event, coming in fourth with a leap of 15.26. With his performance in the Triple Jump, Harris has now finished in the top four in the event in every outdoor meet he has competed in this season.
Horschig, a Sophomore from Lumpzig, Germany, stepped up for the injury-depleted Jasper squad at Saturday’s Metropolitan Outdoor Championships, finishing second in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the long jump. Her season-best time of 14.18 seconds in the 100 hurdles (which was run into a headwind) qualified for the ECAC Championships, and her best effort in the long jump was a 5.43 meter (17’9¾) leap.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held on Sunday, May 5th at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
