Men’s Varsity Four
The Loyola University Maryland men’s varsity four advanced to the petite final on Sunday morning in the 2013 Knecht Cup Regatta. The quad of Michael Blume, Bryan Carney, Walter Horan, Craig Spencer, and cox Patrick Flynn qualified for the final with times of 7:06.03, and 7:05.14 in the semifinals. The second round semi time was the fastest recorded performance thus far for the Greyhounds.
Men’s Varsity Eight
The Marist men’s Varsity Eight boat took sixth place out of 18 boats at the notable Knecht Cup race this past weekend. The Red Foxes advanced to the finals by finishing third in both their first head and semifinal race. In their initial heat, they were just three seconds behind the winner, Drexel finishing in a time of 6:04.40. Marist improved its time by more than 10 seconds, advancing to the finals by just .66 seconds ahead of Mercyhurst, who beat them in the first race. In the Grand Final event, Marist finished sixth in a time of 6:06.05, less than two seconds by the boat from Trinity and less than 10 seconds behind the winner, Drexel. The Marist boat consisted of Chris Leonard, Harrison Drouin-Reed, Seaton Drebitko, Dan Nesfeder, Jacob Enright, Doug Woolley, Matt Klos, Kyle Mikesh and Cameron Schuh.
Women’s Varsity Eight
The Canisius College Varsity Eight remains undefeated against MAAC opponents this season through three spring races. At the Knecht Cup on April 13 in Camden, N.J. along the Cooper River, the Golden Griffins secured fourth place in their respective heat with a time of 6:59.75. Among the six total heats, the Golden Griffins battled in the most competitive heat with only half a second distinguishing second place from fourth place. The Griffs posted the top time amidst the MAAC schools competing in the Varsity Eight race at the Knecht Cup.
Women’s Second Varsity Eight
Racing in the esteemed Knecht Cup this past weekend, the Marist women’s Second Varsity Eight “A” boat finished fifth in its heat. The Red Foxes raced to a time of 7:29.37, just 16 from qualifying for the semifinals and more than 30 seconds ahead of MAAC-rival Fairfield. The boat consisted of Erica Bogdan, Brenna Logue, Kira Melendez, Brittany Morrisey, Megan Ladouceur, Annie Devorak, Nora Culhane, Danielle Villa and Samantha Blau.
